Floating village

Another earlyish start this morning, went to the tonle sap - floating village. stopped at lotus field on way out. only took about 30mins to get there in tuk tuk. then we got shown to a boat and were on the boat for a good hour and a half, in that time we saw the floating village, amazing place really. at this time of year apparently water is just over a metre high and very dirty, in the wet season it can go up to 8metres. they have all sorts out there, floating supermarket, basketball court, cages with pigs, birds, schools etc. whilst we were stopped in the boat having a look around this wee boat pulled up beside us with a young boy and his mother. the young lad had a snake wrapped round him.....aggh! then we got taken to the fish farm. got off the boat and were shown a wee area with lots of crocodiles in it and then shown more snakes....was quite scary as snakes were huge and so were crocs obviously although apparently they get much bigger than that!! back to guest house for lunch, shower and then out to new hope. heat today was unbearable, its the humidity that kills you and you never feel clean for long haha. so our class were easier to manage today, they actually listened and understood most things. one of wee boys had been writing his numbers back to front but now after a lot of work and encouragement he can do them properly. he sooo delighted with himself and you feel good for helping him with such a simple task. with the older kids we spoke about scotland AGAIN and they want to know more tomorrow haha i felt like telling them scotland is a small place. went out for dinner this evening to red piano and it was lovely then went to quiz night. this week the money raised was for grace house, another project over here. off to bed now and to my room to put the air con on!! night folks xx
